About Us

Meridith Funeral Home, P.C. stands as an enduring legacy of funeral directors and undertakers that have provided continuous, family owned service to the region since the 1870s. It is our distinct privilege to serve the communities of Highland, Lebanon, Pocahontas, Albion, Allendale, West Salem and Cisne. Generation after generation, we strive to deliver exceptional professional, personal and personalized guidance and support to families anticipating or faced with the death of a loved one. We offer a full line of quality funeral products and services to meet the unique needs of each family, and are dedicated to providing the highest standard of practical and compassionate support when help is needed most: for pre-planning, at a time of death, and long after the funeral services are over.

“We believe everyone is a part of our family, and we treat them as such.”
- James W. Meridith

Built in the 1840s, the funeral home was first known as the Herminia Hotel, and by the 1930s, it was the site of O.B Winkler’s medical practice. In 1942, it was purchased by the Meyer Family to become the funeral home’s fourth location in Lebanon and their family residence.

The Meyer Family’s 70-year funeral service to the community was managed by three generations of funeral directors, beginning with John Meyer, followed by his son Othmar Meyer, and later Ott’s son, Bob Meyer. James W. Meridith purchased the business in October, 1990. Today it is operated by his son, James L. Meridith.

Situated in the historic district, the building retains its Victorian style and charm.
